Take good care of yourself

There are so many pressures on an individual these days, and it doesn’t matter what your personal circumstances are. There are bills to pay, jobs to perform and children to raise – to name just a few of the common ones. The key for me to keeping on top of everything that life throws at me is to make sure that I try and stay positive.

Whilst this is easier said than done (isn’t everything?), given that everyone is different in attitude, upbringing, life experiences and level of self confidence, the most important thing that I have started to learn and get better at is to not to beat myself up if I make a mistake. The key is to learn from it but crucial to learning is to look at the positive side of the situation. We are all human and we all make mistakes. Nobody goes out to intentionally make a mistake that might sabotage their situation in life. What I have found in my own life is to try and understand the situation I am in, eg. financial difficulties, and see what positive action I can take to help improve the situation and actually make proactive decisions to change our circumstances for the better. After I recently made some decisions in this one part of my life, I have eased a huge mental burden that was dragging me down and making me miserable, emotional and feeling hopeless. You could call it a ‘light bulb moment’ but I finally decided to do something about what was making me feel bad. I knew that I had to take GOOD care of myself by trying anything to get out of the rut I was in.

The cycle of self improvement is a life long one. There is the popular saying that you are never too old to learn. I truly believe that as I have lived that motto very recently in the example I’ve just talked about, but I am now looking at more ways every single day to be GOOD to myself and reaping the benefits of a more positive attitude. I want to be the best person I can be so that I can be the best possible role model for my 2 teens. Life is hard enough without you being hard on yourself.

Be good to yourself.
