Personal pep talk

I saw the following quote recently:

“You’ll never talk to anyone as much as you talk to yourself, so make sure that you speak to yourself with love and compassion.”

Positive self talk is vital for your well being. Realise when things go awry that you are human and that you WILL make mistakes but don’t harangue yourself too much. Acknowledge what has happened, accept your role in whatever went wrong and put efforts in place to rectify what you can. If there are things you can’t fix, then tell yourself that what’s done is done and they are unfixable.

Equally, when something you tried has come off and is a spectacular success, and despite your propensity to just get on with things, take a moment to tell yourself “well done”, remember what you did and implement those actions when faced with future tasks and challenges. No need for a megaphone – just the little person on your shoulder recognising your efforts and rewarding you with positivity.

This message to yourself can make all the difference!
