Some goodbyes are sad…

Many of us have lost loved ones, family members and dear friends. I have lost a sister to cancer and a brother to homicide, and my parents died a year apart after 70 years together. I know sad.

That sadness was added to today when we had to put our beloved Labrador Chilli to rest, to ease her suffering and assuage our guilt for letting her clearly be in discomfort and more than likely a lot of pain.

Dogs absolutely do love you unconditionally, and the great sense of sadness I (we) felt today was overwhelming. I have cried many a tear when losing someone close to me but that was pretty nearly matched by losing our loyal Chilli. To see the compassion and care the vets showed her – and us – was indescribable and in some small way made it a little easier to bear. We can’t thank them enough for their humane approach to Chilli’s last few moments with us.

So from now on there will be a small hole in our lives where our faithful and loving four legged family member once was, but she will never Ever EVER be forgotten.

RIP Chill Chill.
